What’s been happening?

We are already a quarter of the way into the 2025 and the season has started to change here in Melbourne. It’s weird knowing that the weather is going to get soooo much cooler. It’s the thing I love about Melbourne though you really do see a change in the seasons.

I have been busy writing to venues for gigs, writing new songs, trying them out at open mics around Melbourne.  I have met some really lovely musicians at each event I go to or play at. There really is a great music scene here. People are so welcoming and virtually everyone I meet is a music lover, consistently checking out live music and original music at that, which is so different to my experience in WA. Also I have felt more included as a middle aged female solo acoustic act. I really do love that.

So here is the news, I have a gig booked for the Thornbury Local May 18th to kick things off and will hopefully secure some more dates as the year moves on. It has been good to get back into writing songs and getting back on the stage. I really do love performing despite the huge amount of work that has to go into making that happen. It’s the biggest buzz ever and I feel like I am totally in my element when I can play my songs to an audience.  I have had extensive conversations with a muso friend recently about this. What is it that makes us want to get up on stage and perform compared to just enjoying the act of playing at home or with friends. We didn’t really get to a conclusion. For me I feel alive when I am on stage and sharing my songs it is so rewarding on so many levels.

There is so much going on in the world currently and I think sometimes we need something to distract ourselves or immerse ourselves in. So find whatever it is that you are passionate about, or that gives you a sense of peace and take some time out everyday to do it. It’s short and sweet this time but I will definitely keep you posted on any upcoming gigs or songs of course. I am still seeking out a recording studio here in Melbourne so watch this space on that too.
