The Denmark Festival of Voice is only a month away. It starts on Friday June 3rd and finishes Sunday June 6th. It’s a fantastic weekend and for the time I have lived in Denmark it’s always been a beautiful sunny weekend. Venues open up all over the town it comes alive with choirs, musicians and lots of workshops and concerts to choose from. I will be playing at Mrs Jones on Saturday the 4th and Sunday I’ll be playing at Chilli, Lime and Salt cafe in Strickland Street. Here’s the website to check all the acts that will be there http://denmarkfestivalofvoice.com.au/all-performers/
The Elleker General Store and Tavern is a great spot to go with your family any day especially lunchtimes. They have great pub grub at very reasonable prices and from on Sundays from 12.30 -2.30pm they have live music. Glenda and Mal have been supporting live music for the past 3 years which is very much appreciated by locals and visitors alike. I love playing there and I feel very much appreciated and valued as a local musician. Next time you are taking a drive from Albany WA to Denmark WA why not take the Lower Denmark Road and check them out.
I went up to Perth to play at three different venues for three nights in a row and called it my “Mini Metro” tour. I love going up to Perth to play because it’s as scary as and I meet lots of different people and it’s great for polishing my performance skills. There’s nothing like a bit of fear to fine tune the guitar skills and to help lock in the songs. I played at Club Acoustic at the http://indibar.com.au on the Wednesday night and then The Defectors Bar http://www.defectorsbar.com in Mt Lawley on Thursday night and the Wanneroo Folk Club on the Friday night. http://www.wafolk.iinet.net.au. I had a great 4 days and I just loved playing to a different audience each night. MMMMmmm I think it’s time to organise another road trip to the big smoke.
